Balcony and Terrace Lighting Ideas for Diwali
By TurboTraders India ·
Your balcony is what the whole street sees on Diwali night. With a few long strings of lights and a little planning, even a small flat balcony can look stunning.
Start with a clean outline
The simplest look is often the best: one string along the top of the railing, tied every half metre so it sits in a straight line. For most balconies a 12 m string is enough to cover the railing and still reach the socket.
Add a second line for a fuller look
Run a second string along the bottom of the railing, or weave it through the bars in a zig-zag. Two rows look much brighter from the street than one.
Try a colour combination
Mixing two colours makes the outline stand out. Combinations that work well:
- warm yellow on top, red below: traditional and festive;
- cool white with blue: calm and modern;
- warm yellow with green: matches plants and marigold torans.
Use bulb strings for a bold look
Bulb string lights have bigger, round bulbs that are easy to see from far away. They suit terraces, gates and the front of independent houses.
Soft flower lights for the seating corner
If you sit out on the balcony with family, blossom flower lights draped over the door or a plant give a softer light that is easy on the eyes.
Planning a terrace party?
For a Diwali card party or a family get-together on the terrace, a laser party light turns the wall or the water tank into a dance floor.
Outdoor safety
- Check the product listing on Flipkart for how each light can be used.
- Keep plugs, connectors and adapters indoors or under a cover, away from rain and dew.
- Tie strings with cable ties or soft wire, never with metal that can cut the cable.
- Keep lights away from diyas, lanterns and crackers.
- Switch everything off at night and when you leave home.
